New variable Star HassfortherV17
By blinking Stardial-images
the star GSC 5101-0214 proofed to be variable.

Checking 176 Stardial-images from 1996 to 2000 showed
GSC 5101-0214 to be a new semiregular variable star with small
amplitude (about 0.5 in I) and a period of about 60 days.
The amplitude changes from 0.2 to 0.5 mag.
Differential photometry was done against GSC 5097 0241
(Tycho-Photometry: VT=9.735, BT=11.468).
Lightcurve from 1998 as an example:
A check of the available TASS-measurements
proofed the star to be slightly variable with small
amplitude.
Judging from the TASS-Photometry the star is extremly red
(V-I = +5.6):
V = 13.740 Error=0.394 n=11
I = 8.112 Error=0.129 n=31
The Stardial-project is one of the most fascinating aspects of the WEB,
many thanks to Peter McCullough!!
The TASS-Database
is a very valuable source to check and verify new
findings. Many thanks to the TASS-people.
